A New Perspective:
Accessible Yoga Inversions

with Jivana Heyman

REPLAY NOW AVAILABLE

Recorded live August 8, 2025

Turning upside down can offer tremendous benefits, including lowering blood pressure, increasing venous blood flow, and even changing our perspective on the world. But these powerful practices often feel inaccessible for so many of us.

In this session, Accessible Yoga founder, Jivana Heyman, will guide you through an asana practice focused on adapting inverted poses using the wall, chair, and additional props, as well as seated inversions for chair yoga students.

Jivana ends with a short info session about the upcoming Accessible Yoga Training Online that begins September 26th, 2025.

Inverting Safely:
How to Teach Accessible Inversions

with Jivana Heyman

REPLAY NOW AVAILABLE

Recorded live September 16, 2025

The way postures like headstand and handstand are shown on social media make these inversions not only feel out of reach, but can discourage us from practicing them at all. This mainstream image of yoga as acrobatics can dampen our curiosity about the purpose and benefits of inversions—which can be incorporated into adaptive practice in a way that’s accessible, safe, and gentle.

Inversions offer tremendous benefit, but also can be potentially harmful if not practiced safely. They impact so many systems of the body, including the cardiovascular system and the immune system. In particular, people with blood pressure regulation issues need to be thoughtful when turning their body upside down.

In this 60-minute workshop, Accessible Yoga founder, Jivana Heyman, discusses:

  • The physical and energetic benefits of inverted asana
  • The challenges and contraindications of inversions
  • How to make inversions more accessible to all of your students

Plus, Jivana shares about the upcoming Accessible Yoga Training Online, which begins on September 26th, 2025.
