About the Ambassador & Mentorship Program

Our Accessible Yoga Ambassador & Mentorship Program offers yoga teachers and yoga therapists ongoing support, education, and inspiration.

We've expanded our benefits to include two-hour monthly mentoring calls with Rodrigo Souza as well as an additional monthly one-hour guest presenter session.

These two monthly sessions will offer time for personal support and engagement. You’ll be able to get your questions answered and learn techniques for making your teaching truly equitable and accessible for all your students.

If you can’t join live, sessions will be recorded and you can watch them at your own pace.

You’ll also access a dedicated virtual Ambassador Community where you can chat with Rodrigo and hundreds of other Ambassadors around the world.

Live Mentoring Call Schedule (recordings included!)

Second Tuesday of the month with Rodrigo Souza
9am-11am PT / 12pm-2pm ET / 5pm-7pm BST (UK)

The two-hour mentoring calls will include an hour-long practice led by Rodrigo, and then a discussion related to teaching accessible yoga. Topics include teaching methodology and techniques. The focus will be on supporting yoga teachers in making their offerings more accessible and inclusive. There will be time for individual support, discussion, and community building.

 

Fourth Tuesday of the month with Rodrigo & Guest Presenters
9am-10am PT / 12pm-1pm ET / 5pm-6pm BST (UK)

The guest sessions will include experts in making yoga accessible, including Matthew Sanford, Suzan Colon, Jivana Heyman. These sessions will be conducted as guest teacher conversations hosted by Rodrigo on the specific monthly theme.

Mary-Jo Fetterly

Mary-Jo Fetterly (she/her), a yoga teacher for over 40 years, is passionate about diversity, inclusion, sustainability and our visceral and collective community. As a health & life coach she incorporates her background in psychology, mindfulness, yoga therapy and coaching to bring the best in bringing out the best in people. It is her belief that if we make a way, we find a way that will include everybody even those who don’t think they can – because we can.

Mary-Jo became permanently disabled at 47. A eco-feminist she is an also survivor of PTSD, ADD, Dyslexia, rape and eating disorders. With a never give up attitude, Mary-Jo seeks to inquire, and inspire towards understanding diversity, inclusion and our potential resiliency. She works with the University of Toronto Health Sciences research and in many diverse settings addressing the inequalities for many marginalized populations while offering coaching, mindfulness and restorative therapies.

Ongoing training with many of the world’s leading yoga and somatic wellness practitioners has provided Mary-Jo many certifications including: CYT, ERYT-500, CLC, NVC, Theta Healing, Bach Flower, and herbology. She developed an adaptive yoga training program for those with disabilities, incorporating sound, eight-limbed yoga therapy, and mindfulness. A lover of animals, nature and life Mary-Jo is an avid sailor, gardener, writer, yogi and chef alongside a healthy dose of activism, professional and volunteer work. A single-mother of two, Mary-Jo thinks green, acts locally, lives sustainably, and strives to leave the world a better place. She maintains a healthy dose of optimism with realism.

About Your Mentor: Rodrigo Souza

Rodrigo Souza (he/him) is an Adaptive & Accessible Yoga teacher with experience in teaching yoga to folks who have undergone Trauma & Disability. Rodrigo endured a devastating spinal cord injury after a fall accident which left him paralyzed from the chest down. The experience of living with chronic pain and trauma has taught him the importance of taking charge of his recovery to optimise long-term well-being. Despite the challenges, he has found purpose in becoming a Yoga teacher and sharing his knowledge with others.

Through his Allihopa Accessible & Adaptive Virtual Yoga Studio, he has created a safe and welcoming space for people with diverse abilities from all over the world to practice yoga and find healing. He also teaches for several Non-profits, community centres and newly injured folks in an Active Rehabilitation Center in Sweden.

Rodrigo's focus is creating a supportive community for those who have experienced trauma, loss & and disability through Adaptive & Accessible Yoga.
